A Wilde History

(We’ll try to keep this short, but our sister’s a bit of a writer and she likes to waffle. Bare with us.)

The Farm house was our family home from 1993 when our parents, Martin and Frani, moved down from the Adelaide Hills into a small farmhouse with acreage, two boys Josh and Jack in tow. Youngest, Ayla, was born not long after.

In 1999 the Cottage was built as a bed and breakfast where Frani would make homemade bread with local jam and cream, and deliver it down the bushtrack. Martin used to run Sunday community days where local families of Southern Yorke Peninsula would gather at the Farm to feed the animals (pigs, goats, horses, chickens, ducks, emus, rescued kangaroos, and yep – cue ‘Mr Peabody’, our peacock who now features as a stained glass window in the Cottage). Being a talented muso Martin would also sing and play songs on his guitar.

In 2004 the original Farm was extended, with the vision of having a space where our friends and family could come together to spend quality time, a core family value for us growing up.

All we ask is that you respect our home like it is your own.

Sometime around 2013, we purchased and renovated our Beach house, in the same bay we used to grow up spending our summers fishing, going for long beach walks, and soaking up the sun while we listened to Dad play guitar.

In 2014 after all the Wildes had flown the coop, Josh renovated the Farm home into what it is today with that same vision in mind - a space where people could come together.

We now extend that invite to you, to create your own memories like the ones we cherish so much, and share our space with your loved ones, too.

Stay, connect, create.

Love,
The Wildes x

Life’s too short not to
prioritise spending quality time
with your friends and family.

We hope that during your stay at Wilde Retreat you can experience a little of the joy, love, and adventure we had growing up in the bush.
